FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County is happy to announce a partnership with Broadway Bank to support families on the eastside of the city by ensuring access to essential resources, all at no cost to families.
Broadway Bank has committed to funding the Family Care Closet, which can be accessed by families at the United Way Eastside Family Resource Center in partnership with DePelchin Children’s Center.
The Family Care Closet provides families on the eastside with essential items like diapers, toiletries, soap, children’s clothing and more. The Family Care Closet is thoughtfully curated by the dedicated members of the FRC’s Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). The PAC is composed of parents and caregivers from the eastside who ensure that the closet is stocked with items that families truly need.
Keeping the Family Care Closet stocked despite tremendous demand for basic necessities from residents requires a sizable investment, one that Broadway Bank is committed to funding for one year.
“We see a lot of demand for these basic necessities, items that many of us take for granted,” said Alejandra Maia, Director of the Family Resource Center Network for United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. “We are so grateful for Broadway Bank’s generosity, which will have a tremendous impact on the well-being and peace of mind of countless families in San Antonio,” she added.
Broadway Bank employees volunteer at the United Way Eastside Family Resource Center regularly to personally stock it with daily essentials. You can find photos of Broadway Bank staff doing so at this link. Through this partnership with United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, Broadway Bank helps to strengthen families in the community and foster positive change for others.
The United Way Eastside Family Resource Center is a community-based welcoming hub of support services and opportunities for families. Visitors to the Family Resource Center can always speak with a trained bilingual Family Support Specialist to navigate resources to address challenges families face including food insecurity, housing, childcare and education and much more. In addition to the basic necessities available in the Family Care Closet, the Family Resource Center also features a children’s book and toy library, a kid’s corner and a computer lab which are all free to use and are available to the community.
The United Way Eastside Family Resource Center is open Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm and Fridays 9 am to 12 pm. Conveniently located at 215 Coca-Cola Place, Suite 203, across from the Frost Bank Center, the bilingual staff from DePelchin Children’s Center is ready to welcome families who wish to drop by and explore the space and learn more about the services.
