Each year, companies “loan” an executive or manager-level employee to assist the United Way Community Campaign as a Loaned Executive. Loaned Executives can also be retired professionals who have a passion for giving back to our community. This year will be my seventh year serving in this position and it has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my professional career. I look forward to this opportunity because of our collective impact on the community as Loaned Executives.
This campaign, our team of 16 Loaned Executives will meet with more than 300 companies and 750 public sector locations to make life better for San Antonio residents. United Way’s Loaned Executives are professionals who, like myself, have a passion for helping others. Over the next several months, during the 2024 United Way Community Campaign, professionals from some of our city’s leading organizations, including Zachry Group, CPS Energy and others, will turn their focus to creating meaningful change for residents.
Last year, our Loaned Executives helped United Way raise more than $47 million to create solutions to our community’s biggest challenges, such as food insecurity, housing, child care and education.
You may be asking yourself, why participate in the Loaned Executive program? By doing so, we, as individuals and our employers, are making a lasting difference in our community. We are giving San Antonio’s young children, students, families and individuals the resources they need to succeed in life.
Like the rest of United Way’s Loaned Executives would tell you, it is also a tremendously rewarding experience.
No matter our age, career or current stability, we can all find ourselves in need of the support United Way provides. I feel fortunate to be in a position today to give back to others and I look forward to seeing our efforts create a brighter future for all in San Antonio.
