United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County invited over 250 families, more than 1,000 parents and their children, to enjoy a free day at Morgan’s Wonderland on Sunday, May 19.
The families had a blast at San Antonio’s ultra-accessible theme park, which typically costs $16+ for children over the age of three. Families were also provided free lunch and had exclusive access to the park an hour before it opened to the general public.
Everyone invited to United Way Family Celebration participates in one or more United Way programs like the Dual Generation Initiative, Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support (HOPES), Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV), Service Members, Veterans and Families (SMVF), the Women United Child Care Scholarship, the United Way Family Resource Center Network and more. All of these programs focus on supporting families and providing critical resources to caregivers throughout their parenting journey.
United Way Family Celebration was not only a fun time for families but it was a chance for parents and children to engage with each other. Without the burden of paying the admission cost, parents were able to focus on creating lasting memories by bonding with their little ones. The event also provided parents with an opportunity to actively participate in their child’s learning, fostering healthy development and family connections.
